Terrell raced out to an early double-digit lead in the opening period before the Lions could even get on the scoreboard.
Sirron Fleming dished to Thomas for an open trey, who followed that with a breakaway dunk after stepping in front of a pass on the other end and racing downcourt.
That play prompted a timeout by the visitors just three minutes into the game. Midway through the first period, Jaderrick McCullar made his first appearance for the Runnin' Tigers.
McCullar had missed the first three games while nursing injuries suffered during football season.
Thomas made it 8-0 with a trifecta of foul shots and then scored off another steal for an easy layup and a 10-0 lead at the 2:40 mark.
There was 2:25 left in the period before John Tyler got on the scoreboard with a free throw and 15 seconds after that before registering its first field goal, prompting a 7-0 run that cut the lead to three points.

While Thomas couldn't miss in the first period, his misses in the second were what created scoring opportunities in the second. Terrell scored four field goals off missed shots by Thomas, keeping the Lions from the lead.
Brian Maxie put back the first and Bedarrious Collier grabbed a Thomas miss for another easy deuce.
But once the Lions closed it to 17-16, Thomas stepped up again, grabbing his own miss for a layup, dishing to Cadarius Herndon for another bucket and scoring off his own miss once again for a 25-16 lead. The score was 25-18 at the break.
An 11-2 run by the Lions gave them their first lead at the 4:24 mark with the score 29-27. Thomas responded with a free throw and then a trey at the 3:36 mark to regain the lead at 31-29. The Lions took the lead once more at 35-33 but wouldn't keep it long as Thomas dished to Herndon on a fast break to tie before connecting on a pair of long shots, set up by Carl Brumley, to take a 41-35 lead after three.
Terrell was never really challenged in the final period and the lead never dipped below seven points.
