The Terrell Runnin' Tigers will have one stop to make before getting into a long district grind.

Fresh off an 84-40 district win at Greenville on Friday, Terrell (10-6, 1-1) will put their league opponents on the back burner for a 3-day period as the Tigers head out Thursday to compete in the Sherman Holiday Invitational.

Terrell will face Class 5A Mansfield Timberview (12-6) in the opening round. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. at Sherman High School.

Timberview is coming in riding a 3-game win streak and has won six of its last seven contests. The Wolves will have to contain Terrell's Antwain Thomas, who is averaging 21 points per game and has knocked down 68 3-point baskets.

Thomas had a game-high 25 points during the win at Greenville, including 19 in the first half.

A win by Terrell over Timberview would put them in a Friday contest against either Frisco Centennial (9-6) or Denison (9-6) at 12:30 p.m. That game would be played at Austin College.

A loss for the Tigers would put them in a Friday contest at noon to be played at Texoma Christian School.

The 16-team field includes 11-5 South Garland, which will face 7-8 St. Marks in the opening round. Also, 5-9 Rowlett will battle College Park and Plainview will meet Paris.

The host team has a bye into the second round and will meet the winner of Thursday's contest between Aledo and Dripping Springs. Another opening round contest pits 10-5 McKinney North against Crespi Carmelite, Ca.

The Tigers could play as many as four games over the 3-day period and are guaranteed to play at least three.
