Boze named general manager of Trinity Valley Electric
By Michael Gresham
An informal conversation over a concession stand hot dog at a Kaufman Lions football game in 1983 changed Jerry Boze’s life.
“I was at the football game and began talking with Ray Raymond, who at the time was the general manager for Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative,” recalled Boze. “At the time, I had moved to Kaufman while working for a cable televison company. I really didn’t expect to be here more than five months, but Ray said he had this job offer he’d like me to consider.”
Boze accepted Raymond’s offer and, in October 1983, he began working for TVEC. Now, 25 years later, the board of directors for Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative has named Jerry Boze as the organization’s general manager.
Boze succeeds Terry McMullen, who resigned in March. Boze has been serving as the interim general manager for TVEC since McMullen’s resignation and was named general manager at a July 22 TVEC board meeting.
Boze previously served as the cooperative’s manager of public relations.
During his nearly 25-year tenure with the organization, Boze has also served TVEC in the engineering department, manager of member services and as office manager.
“I’m just really appreciative of this opportunity,” Boze said. “I’ve truly enjoyed my time at TVEC and I work with a lot of really good people. This is something I’ve always wanted to do and I’m appreciative of this chance.”
According to Raymond, naming Boze as general manager was a “no-brainer.”
“In my opinion the cooperative board of directors could not have selected a more qualified person for the job of general manager than Jerry Boze,” said Raymond, a former general manager for TVEC. “As general manager of the cooperative, I hired Jerry in 1983 and worked with him for the next 15 years. During his time at the cooperative he has worked in many of the various departments. When I was back at the cooperative as interim manager last year, I appointed Jerry assistant manager and he has served as interim manager since January of this year. These jobs have given him the experience needed to be a good general manager.”
In addition to his professional experience, Raymond said Boze had the personal tools to succeed at the job.
“Jerry is an outstanding employee, is well liked by the employees, members and general public,” Raymond explained. “He is very community minded and has been a member of a number of local organizations. He has served on many state and national committees for the Electric Cooperative Program. As a member and former general manager of the cooperative, I am very proud of his appointment. Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative, Inc. is one of the fastest growing cooperatives in the state and Jerry Boze will be a great leader for the cooperative in the future.”
TVEC, Inc. is an electric distribution cooperative serving over 59,000 meters in an area just southeast of Dallas.
