Quick response from a traveler on State Highway 205 who spotted a tractor on fire in a pasture Thursday afternoon and saved hundreds of acres from going up in smoke.
Gordon Sharp, owner of Custom Farming said, “We were over the hill cutting hay when we noticed smoke coming from this direction.”
Sharp said he had been using the John Deere 4230 tractor and baler earlier on the property belonging to K. L. Breeden but it had been parked more than four hours while they were cutting hay.
The tractor and baler were a total loss but with the quick response from the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department only one-quarter acre was burned.
