In this era of Internet sales and exchanges, the Terrell Police Department is reminding residents of Terrell that they have a safe place to go to consummate deals made online.

According to Terrell police, nearby agencies are reporting as much as 15% increase in the number of thefts during Internet sales exchanges.

For example, Mesquite police recently arrested two people who are suspected of assaulting a person who thought he or she was buying cell phones.

Citizens are reminded that the Terrell Police Department offers a secure safe trade zone at police headquarters located at 1100 N. State Hwy 34 in Terrell. This location is at the north area of our front public parking lot. The site is under video surveillance 24 hours a day and is marked as such with signage. Citizens may use the location anytime day or night to complete face-to-face transactions of sales, trades, or purchases.

“Your safety is important to us!” the department said in a news release.

“Exchanging/selling/purchasing here at the Police Department reduces your chances of victimization, theft, or injury. It further discourages potential offenders from engaging in illegal activity and serves to help protect you,” the department stated.
