The Kaufman County Courthouse is closed today, Friday, after two additional employees who work in the courthouse tested positive for COVID 19, the county said in a news release.

On Thursday, the county reported that five people had tested positive for coronavirus.

Due to concerns for the safety of citizens and employees, the courthouse will be closed for deep cleaning and sanitizing. The courthouse building plans to re-open on Monday.

In other news, Gov. Greg Abbott today dialed back the reopening of state businesses. Abbott announced that all bars in the state will close and restaurants must return to permitting only 50% occupancy instead of 75%.

Abbott called his orders “targeted, measured directives” put in place to bring the state’s COVID-19 outbreak under control. Texas has seen a resurgence in coronavirus cases since the phased reopening of the state’s economy.
