The Terrell Police Department has experienced its first confirmed positive for Covid 19. The patrol officer displayed no symptoms inside the police facility or any city vehicles, or during any periods on duty, according to a Terrell Police Department news release.

While off duty, on his regular scheduled days off, he displayed symptoms consistent with Covid 19. He was tested and diagnosed. He did not return to the facility. He has not been released to full duty. He is on administrative leave pending an expected full recovery.

Our prayers are with him and his family during this difficult time.

Out of an abundance of caution and safety, the entire facility and the vehicles utilized by that shift were properly sanitized. Secondly, the officers of that shift were all provided with testing. This shift is off on regular shift days off, pending results. No other police employee, sworn or civilian, has reported any similar symptoms on or off-duty, the news release said.
