Reece Norris

Terrell country music artist and Terrell High School student, Reece Norris, was awarded the ‘Junior Artist of the Year’ during the East Texas Music Awards on Sunday, Sept. 16 at the Texan Theater in Athens.

This was Norris’ first nomination and win from the East Texas Music Awards.

"When they announced my name as the winner, I couldn't believe it,” Norris said. "This was my first time being nominated and I was just happy to be there representing my hometown of Terrell. I wouldn't be there if the people of Terrell hadn't voted for me, that's a huge honor."

Nominations for the East Texas Music Awards were announced in July for 33 different genres of music.  Reece was one of five finalists throughout east Texas for the Junior Artist of the Year award.  Final voting ran July 17 - Aug 17 through the East Texas Music Website.

Norris is also one of five finalists from throughout the state of Texas for the Young Artist of the Year award at the Texas Country Music Awards being held this Sunday, Sept. 22 at Billy Bob's in Fort Worth. This is his first Texas Country Music Award nomination as well. Other nominees include Austin Michael, Macy Dot, Maddie Rose and Riley Thompson.

Upcoming performances for Norris include being at the Flights of Our Fathers Airshow & Fly-In on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Terrell Municipal Airport. He will be on stage from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. located on the south end of the airport.

Norris will also perform during the Terrell Chamber of Commerce Civic Auction on Oct. 19.
