The United Way of Kaufman County intends to conduct its second annual Veteran’s Day 5K Run on Saturday, Nov. 14. The event will be a “timed run” for those who enjoy competition.

The race will be held at Terrell’s Veteran’s Memorial Park, near the gazebo. Runners can sign up for the race online by visiting 5K Run. Those with questions can contact Executive Director Deb Helm at 214 878-3930.

Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. with a warm-up scheduled for 8:45 a.m. The race, which is a run or walk, starts a 9 a.m. The course will close down at 10:30 a.m.

The registration fee for adults is $35, and $10 for students. The cost for adult runners in groups of 10 or more will be $25. Your registration fee includes a Race Day T-shirt. The cost of late registration (after Oct. 25) is $40. Facemasks and safe distancing will be required.

Sponsorship categories include Admiral ($750); Captain ($500); Chief ($250); and Petty Officer ($100).

Proceeds from the run will help the United Way of Kaufman County assist its partner agencies, such as the Terrell Share Center, the Kaufman Christian Help Center and the Salvation Army. In addition, proceeds will help fund eight $1,250 scholarships for eight local high school graduates as well as a college freshman.
