TERRELL – A 48-year-old Wills Point man was taken into custody Wednesday morning after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen pickup, according to the Terrell Police Department.

At about 1:57 a.m. Wednesday, Terrell officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near the 501-mile marker on Interstate 20, according to police. The driver refused to yield and police determined the white, 2007 Ford pickup he was driving was stolen.

As the suspect fled, the vehicle reached speeds of 100 mph, police said. The chase ended at Riverside and Spur 348 in Irving at 2:53 a.m., when the pickup ran out of gas, according to police.

The suspect, identified as Lee Mallewick of Wills Point, was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Terrell. He faces charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle, and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle, according to police.
