Terrell ISD will keep all campuses closed through Friday, April 3 in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The school district will reassess conditions at that time.

Meanwhile, the district will provide a breakfast and lunch meal service for Terrell children and develop in-home instructional support for children and parents.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week, the district will provide a “grab-and-go” meal service for all children ages 1-18 at Gilbert Willie Sr. Elementary School and Furlough Middle School. Regulations require that children must be present in a vehicle with their parents or guardians in order receive meals. Each youngster will receive two meals per day, breakfast and lunch.

On Thursday, March 26, TISD will implement a meal delivery service that will involve the Gold Star Transportation and TISD School Nutrition teams delivering meals to every student home that is registered as a bus rider. To register your student as a bus rider please email fpierce@ridegst.com. Due to regulations, the student must be present to receive meals. Each student will receive two meals per day. Additional information involving schedules for meal deliveries will be released shortly.

In addition, TISD is formulating a Frequently Asked Questions resource that will cover an exhaustive list of topics including graduation, at-home learning, technology and internet needs, TVCC Dual Credit, community support, etc. This FAQ will be posted online and sent out to all families by the end of the week.

The school district also is developing at an-home learning website that will provide educational resources and at-home activities for both low-tech and high-tech capabilities. For the week of March 23 - March 27, the district is suggesting families employ low-tech learning activities such as reading and exercising for at least 30 minutes a day and utilizing online resources that will be posted on the TISD website by Monday.

Please continue to adhere to the preventative measures as recommended by public health officials, such as limiting interaction and practicing social distancing.
