The Terrell Independent School District ExCEL center is hosting a VEX Robotics Competition on Saturday, Jan. 26.

The tournament is a qualifying round for teams to advance to the regional championship. The awards given out will be the Excellence Award, Tournament Champions, Design Award and Robot Skills Champion.

Eighteen teams from Terrell ISD will be competing in the tournament. Schools from Garland ISD, Celeste ISD, Granbury ISD, Midlothian ISD, Dallas ISD, Princeton ISD, Wolfe City ISD, Sachse ISD, Greenville ISD will be competing as well.

The doors for the competition open at 7a.m. Robot inspections will be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. The opening ceremonies will be from 9 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Qualifying rounds will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Lunch and robot and programming skills will be from noon to 12:45 p.m. Qualifying rounds will continue from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Alliance selection will be from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Elimination rounds/finals will be from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will be from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
