The Terrell Independent School District board of trustees accepted the recommendation from Terrell ISD Superintendent, Micheal French, and proposed the termination of Sharraine Williams term contract and directed the Superintendent to issue a notice to Williams.
Williams is the Occupational Therapist, Special Olympics Coordinator, Tigerettes drill team and cheer team Spirit Director at Terrell ISD. The decision was made during the Terrell ISD regular school board meeting on Monday.
Williams' term contract has not formally been terminated, rather this is the process to initiate the proceedings. Williams has the right to request the Texas Education Agency to appoint an independent hearing examiner to hear the district’s evidence supporting the proposed termination, according to Terrell ISD school board President, Dena Risinger.
A statement from Terrell ISD reads: “On May 13, 2019, the District placed Ms. Williams on administrative leave after multiple stakeholders alleged various complaints of unprofessional conduct and financial improprieties. The District and law enforcement have been investigating the allegations. Based on the information gathered thus far, the Superintendent is making the decision to recommend to the Board of Trustees that Ms. Williams' contract be proposed for termination.”
The Terrell ISD school board went into a closed session for one hour and 45 minutes to discuss the Superintendent’s recommendation to propose the termination of Williams’ term contract.
Reginald Williams, Terrell ISD school board Vice President, District/Place 2 member and husband of Sharraine Williams, was not present during the call to meeting after the closed session.
