In a closed session tonight, the TISD school board has come to a decision to offer Darrell Jordan from La Marque High School the Athletic Director and head football coach position at Terrell High School.

Superintendent Kelly Rodgers said that the board appreciated Jordan's credentials, his attitude and his emphasis on discipline within the program.

Jordan has spent the last three seasons at La Marque. Under his guidance, the Cougars finished the 2010 season with an 11-4 record and a berth into the Division II-4A state title game after a fourth-place finish in District 24-4A. Overall, Jordan went 18-14 in three seasons with the one playoff appearance.

Most recently, La Marque also found success on the basketball court, with a trip to the state finals where they lost to #1 ranked Dallas Kimball.

The Terrell ISD board will make the decision official during its March 21 board meeting.

did he accept? if not, is there a timeframe?

We will know we have made substantial progress in our oft-verbalized goal of improving the quality of our children's education when there is half the hoopla over the hiring of a highly qualified head mathematics teacher as there is over the hiring of an Athletic Director.

It doesn't take a clairvoyant to see where the priorities are right now!

Does your Math teacher bring $ to the school. No. Don't you get it Atheltics make $ from middle school to college to pro's. That's just the way it is. You must not be a sports fan and think its a waste of time. What will take for you Octuplcate to be #1 in the world at academics, i do not see where the USA has done bad at any level. Ah but sports is where the $ is.
