Kaufman County is one of the fastest growing counties in the United States, according to estimates compiled by the United States Census Bureau of counties with populations over 1,000.

Kaufman County is the 11th fastest growing county in the United States after having an increase of 4.1 percent from 2016-2017.  Kaufman County is the fourth fastest growing county in Texas. Kaufman County is the number one fastest growing county in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex out of 16 counties.

“There are so many things on the horizon for this great county and all the communities that make up this great county, including Terrell. There are so many things headed our way and we have a lot to be thankful for,” former Kaufman County Judge Bruce Wood said.

Comal County, north of San Antonio, is the second fastest growing county in the United States. Hays County, southwest of Austin, is the fourth fastest growing county in the United States. Kendall County, northwest of San Antonio, is the fifth fastest growing county in the United States.

Also in 2018, 35,000 housing starts were created in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex which made DFW the No. 1 area for housing starts in the United States. Kaufman County was the No. 2 sub market for housing starts in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.

“We’re growing like gang busters and if you’re new to the [Terrell Chamber of Commerce] and want your business to grow, this is a great opportunity and great community,” Mike Sims, City of Terrell interim City Manager, said.
