The City of Terrell agreed to a contract with Strategic Government Resources to be the search firm in helping the City of Terrell pursue the next Terrell City Manager.

The Terrell City Council met on Tuesday night at the Terrell City Hall Council Chambers and went into executive session to discuss personnel matters in regards to the Terrell City Manager Job Description and to consult with an attorney in regards to pending or contemplated litigation.

When the executive session was over, the Terrell City Council voted in favor or against the City of Terrell contracting with a third party search firm for the Terrell City Manager.

There was a split vote and Mayor D.J. Ory was the deciding vote to have a third party search firm for the Terrell City Manager.

“The citizens of Terrell need assurance the city council has conducted a thorough candidate search for the position of city manager,” Ory said. “By contracting with Strategic Government Resources for a reasonable fee, a statewide canvass of quality, experienced municipal administrators can begin.”

Mike Sims is the interim Terrell City Manager.

The last Terrell City Manager Torry Edwards retired in December 2018.

Strategic Government Resources is based out of Keller. According to its website, Strategic Government Resources has over 300 local government clients in 41 states.
