The Association of Breezy Hill Park is having a Back-to-School event that the community can be a part of and participate in.

The Association of Breezy Hill Park is having a Back-to-School give-a-way from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11 at Breezy Hill Park located at 351 New Hope Street in Terrell.

The event is free and it will provide school children and their families with the essential school supplies necessary to have a successful academic year.

“We are trying to uplift our community, especially the children by giving them a chance in life. Most of the children that we serving are from a single family household,” Leonard Lancaster, President of the Association of Breezy Hill Park, said.

This is the first time Breezy Hill Park has put on an event like this. It is a shared effort between the Association of Breezy Hill Park, community volunteers, private donors and sponsors.

The Back-to-School event was created because the Association of Breezy Hill Park felt it was need in the community.

Even though the event is a children event, parents will have an opportunity to enter info a free raffle to receive a prize. There will also be food and snow cones.

Volunteer opportunities are available for this event. Please contact Cecily Malone at 469-224-7067. Registration is not required but it is helpful. Children must accompany their parents to receive supplies. The goal is to serve 200 students with backpacks.

“As a continuation of our commitment to the community as a whole, we are trying to up lift our community and especially to our children,” Association of Breezy Hill Park organizers, said about the event.
