On August 17, a suspect in the murder of Anita Abreu turned himself into

the US Custom and Border Patrol in Laredo on a warrant issued by Kaufman County Sheriffs Office Investigators. 

Eduardo Garcia, 25, of Dallas was charged with the murder of Anita Abreu. 

The body of Abreu, 35, of Dallas was found by a passerby on FM1389 in Combine on Sept. 4.

“Garcia was recently linked to the murder when his DNA was identified through CODIS. Investigators with the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Rangers continue to investigate. Garcia was transported from the Webb County Jail to the Kaufman County Jail on Aug. 19 where he is being held on $500,000 bond,” Jolie Stewart of the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, said.
