With an eye on what likely will be another challenging session in 2013, State Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Terrell) said he and his peers in the Texas House this spring worked hard to provide the "most conservative session in the history of the Texas Legislature."

"I know that everyone has had their eyes on what is going on in Washington here lately, but last February the big story was the $25 billion budget shortfall that the Texas Legislature was faced with this spring," Gooden told Terrell Kiwanians at their Tuesday meeting. "We got to Austin and realized that cutting the budget wasn't going to be easy, but we managed to do it without tapping the Rainy Day Fund for this upcoming budget and affecting future generations."
