Thompson Leon Lester

Thompson Leon Lester was born September 23, 1924, in Wills Point, Texas, the son of Sam and Lida Coleman Lester. He attended his grade school years at Cedar Grove and was a 1942 graduate of Wills Point High School. Leon served two years in the United States Army from 1945-1946. All his life he was a cattleman and rancher. He was the originator and a co-owner of the Van Zandt Livestock Commission for 27 years. Leon was also one of the founders of Wills Point Riding and Roping Club. The Wills Point FFA honored him with a lifetime membership for his contributions to their chapter. Leon was a member of First Baptist Church in Wills Point. He married LaVerne Corry on February 14, 1995, in Canton, Texas. 

Leon is survived by his sister, Roby Johnson of Kaufman, Texas; two step-sons, Louis (Gina) Corry of Pasadena, Texas, and Steve (Rachelle) Corry of Deer Park, Texas; and step-daughter, Julie Crawford of Chandler, Texas. Other survivors include nephew, Stephen Johnson of Lubbock, Texas; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Leon is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, sister, Catherine Lester, brother, Coleman Lester, and step-daughter, Rebecca Lytle.

Family will be accepting guests Tuesday, June 22, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point, Texas. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at Allan Fuller Funeral Home. The family will also be accepting guests one hour prior to the service Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.
