Emory Earl Trotty was born to Luther and Hattie Trotty on January 4, 1952 in Nacogdoches, TX. He graduated from E.J. Campbell High School in 1970. From there, he went on to receive his Bachelor's degree in Biology from Jarvis Christian College, where he was also a member of both the gospel and concert choirs. He loved to sing, and had a beautiful tenor voice. While in college, he met his future wife, Sheila. They married on January 23, 1977.

After college, he began working at Terrell State Hospital, where he eventually became a Social Worker. During his 44 years there, he met numerous people that became like another family to him. He also spent some time teaching in the Terrell Independent School District and at Southwestern Christian College.

Emory enjoyed riding his bike, collecting antiques, writing poetry, drawing, painting, listening to music, and playing with gadgets. His favorite word was antidisestablishmentarianism, he loved his henley shirts and carpenter jeans, and he would always brighten our day with a corny joke. He was a fan of the Raiders, Pistons and the Dodgers. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family and friends.

Emory was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; Luther, Jr, Herbert, and Bobby, and two sisters; Hannah and Susan. He is survived by his wife, Sheila, his daughters; Alexis Trotty, Kristin Trotty, and Ericka Trotty, his sons; Kelcey Trotty (Liz), Troyas Buford, and Michael Trotty, and grandchildren; Tori, Mackenzie, Tia and Jace. He is also survived by his brothers; Dr. Willie Trotty (Sarah), George Trotty (Cora), Charles Trotty and Robert Trotty, sister, Donna Trotty, sister-in-law, Diena Trotty, uncle Willie Trotty (Doris), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
