Kathryn Edna Furlough Edwards

Tuesday morning the 9th of June 2020 the angel of silence came to take Mrs. Kathryn Edna Furlough Edwards from this world of sorrow to a place of eternal rest and peace. Kathryn was born January 14, 1919 in Mineola, Texas to the parents of Wilson and Stella Furlough. She graduated from Burnett High School. Kathryn was known for her classy style of shoes, hats, and suits. She joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church at an early age. She was a long time active member until her health failed her. She touched many lives young and old. She had a strong love for her family and her church. She served as President of the Deaconess Board; she was a Trustee, Choir Member, Mission Sister, Sunday School Teacher, she worked faithfully with the Zion Rest District Association. Kathryn was employed with Terrell State Hospital for over 30 years until her retirement. After her retirement, she continued to serve tirelessly as a volunteer of Terrell Community Hospital for many years.

At the age of 19 she married the love of her life, Freddie Douglas Edwards for 69 years. To this union four children were born. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Freddie D. Edwards, one daughter, Etta Katherine Smith, three brothers, Hurmon Furlough Sr, Wilson Furlough Jr, and Willis Furlough. Four sisters, Mary Lee Mayfield, Margaret Jones, Mattie Davis, and Lula Mae Blanton. Kathryn leaves to cherish her loving memories two daughters, Mae Fredna Robertson, Johnnie Joyce Green, one son Rev. Madison D. Edwards. (Lynn), two sisters Pearl Richmond, Dallas, Texas; Faye Washington (Billy) of Houston, Texas and a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and many , many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Edward Pierson, Pastor on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 1:00PM
