Odis Dry, of Grand Saline, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2020 in Tyler. Odis was born August 13, 1926 in Jacksonville, TX. He was preceded in death by the love of his life for over 32 years, Glenda Dry along with his parents, B.F. and Myrtle Annabelle (Ellis) Dry, his sister, Luella Burns and brothers, Harvey and Jasper Dry.
Odis struck everyone he met by his height and his welcoming smile. His heart was as big as Texas, and he generously gave to others in any way he could. As a young man, he enjoyed dancing and getting together with friends. Odis was a proud veteran of the US Army having served in WWII. He was a quiet personality with a firm foundation in honor and integrity. Everyone knew Odis’ word was his bond. His work ethic was second to none. Odis worked in residential concrete construction and in the automotive repair business, eventually working alongside his brothers. Odis had a unique sense of humor; he loved to tell and play jokes on others. In his spare time, he could always be found doing what he loved: fishing, gardening, canning, spending time with his family, and eating homemade ice cream, which always drew a crowd. Odis had a special way of lighting up when loved ones came to visit him. His smile and hugs were so warm and inviting, and it was obvious to his visitors that his heart was full. A loving man who always saw the best in others, Odis will be missed by all who knew him. He will be forever remembered by his brothers, M.L. Dry, W.J. Dry and Charlie Dry; sister, Lottie Copeland as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-nieces and -nephews, other extended treasured family and a host of friends, all of whom loved him dearly.
