Funeral services for Thomas William Stockslager will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Waldo Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Softly of the Friendly Church of God in Christ will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery with Richard Taylor, Keith Jones, Kenny Calhoun, Don Thompson, Dennis Green, John Lamb, and Charlie Martin serving as pallbearers. Mr. Stockslager, 62, passed away Monday, April 25 at his home in Sherman.
Thomas was born Oct. 8, 1948 in Sherman to Dave and Dorothy (Barnes) Stockslager. Thomas graduated from Sherman High School in 1967 and attended Grayson County College. He joined the U.S. Army in 1968 and was discharged as a sergeant in 1975. Thomas worked as the service manager at Day Computer and later at the Post Office in Sherman. He retired from Procter and Gamble/Folgers where he had worked as a utilities technician. In retirement, Thomas enjoyed working on computers, reading Clive Cussler novels, building marble machines, and tinkering in his shop.
