Reba Louise Gholson Fields Rosen Odom entered the world on 15 March 1936 to T.J. Gholson and Lillian (McGraw) Gholson in Joinerville, Texas, with her father working hard in the oil fields and her mother sought out as a trusted seamstress.
Reba married the love of her life, Arnold Rosen on December 24, 1969. Reba became a successful CPA for over 30 years, but her life-long love was the piano. She was known for her quick wit and dry sense of humor as well as her voracious appetite for books, often reading over 200 books a year. Her most recent favorite activities were working her computer puzzles (to keep her brains sharp, she would say), sharing emails with friends, playing card games with her family, performing on her alto clarinet with the Mesquite Symphonic Band and playing the piano for Terrell Bible Church. When Reba was nearly 50 years old, she was convicted that she was not ever going to have to answer for so-called Christians who don’t live like Christ; but that someday she was going to have to answer for herself. She feared that she could not be saved because of the life she had led, but she found out that God could forgive even her. Thus, she accepted the Lord as her Savior and received great joy and peace beyond understanding. She became very hungry to know Him and His Word.
Both of Reba’s parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her four children: Pat Vaughan of Pineland, Texas, Glynna Lewis and husband Dan of Terrell, Texas, Stephen Fields of Terrell, Texas, and Marcia Cook and husband Keith of Marshall, Texas; grandchildren, Tara Womack, Britton Holden, Emily Grey Vaughan, Rebecca, Daniel, Jessica, Joshua, and Michael Lewis, Jacob Fields, Sarah Wilson, Corrine Parker, Carrie Hudson and Carissa Cook; sister, Juanita Zant of Odessa, Texas; as well as 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Reba's memorial service will be held at 10 am, Saturday, 1st June 2019, at Terrell Bible Church. Graveside will be in Jasper, Texas at 5:30 p.m. Her family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm, Friday, May 31, 2019 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers Reba’s family asks donations to be made to Gideon's International , www.gideons.org as they continue to provide bibles to the world.
