The Terrell High School varsity girls basketball team played in five games during the Forney basketball tournament Nov. 15-17 at Forney High School.
The Lady Tigers went 2-3 in the tournament.
Terrell beat Mesquite 40-36 and beat South Garland 52-27. Terrell lost 43-41 to Lake Highlands, lost 70-34 to Frisco Centennial and lost 56-39 to Richardson Pearce.
Against Mesquite, senior Jerrona Barfield led the game in scoring with 16 points and sophomore Li’Neshya Brumley scored eight points. Terrell held Mesquite to one second quarter point as the Lady Tigers took a 20-14 lead into halftime. Terrell outscored Mesquite 16-15 in the fourth quarter to hold on for the win.
Against South Garland, Brumley was the teams leading scorer with 13 points. Mychelle Walker scored 11 points and Rakebric Sparks scored 10 points. Terrell outscored South Garland 16-7 in the first quarter, 16-9 in the second quarter, 6-3 in the third quarter and 14-8 in the fourth quarter.
Against Lake Highlands, sophomore Zoriada Ambriz led the team in scoring with 12 points. Lake Highlands took a 21-11 halftime lead. Terrell outscored Lake Highlands 9-8 in the third quarter and 21-14 in the fourth quarter but fell short in the end.
Against Frisco Centennial, Brumley led the game in scoring with 16 points. Jerrona Barfield scored 12 points for the Lady Tigers. The Titans outscored the Lady Tigers 17-5 in the first quarter, 18-11 in the second quarter, 22-9 in the third quarter and 13-9 in the fourth quarter.
Against Richardson Pearce, Brumley led the team in scoring with 18 points. The Mustangs only led by six at halftime but outscored Terrell 19-9 in the fourth quarter to earn the victory.
On Monday, the Lady Tigers traveled to Denton to take on the Denton High School Broncos. Terrell lost 59-44 but Brumley scored a team high 22 points. Barfield put up 12 points.
On Tuesday, the Lady Tigers lost 65-28 to Royse City.
