The Terrell High School varsity boys soccer tournament held its home soccer tournament Jan. 17-19 at Terrell Memorial Stadium.

Terrell beat Athens 2-1 and Terrell beat Paris 1-0 on Thursday. On Friday, Terrell lost 3-2 to Hallsville but Terrell beat Seagoville 1-0. Saturday matches were cancelled due to weather.

On Tuesday, Terrell play Mesquite Horn at Terrell Memorial Stadium and won 2-0.

“It was a good win for the boys and it was nice to get a few players back [from injury],” Joe Stephens, Terrell head soccer coach, said.

Crispen Muambila had a nice assist in the first half to Miguel Mondragon to give Terrell a 1-0 lead.  In the second Muambila had another assist to Octavio Valdes with four minutes to go for the final result against Horn.

The boys take a 7-3-3 record into district and are getting healthy at the right time.

The Terrell High School girls varsity soccer team tied with Molina 0-0 on Jan. 17 and tied with Crandall 1-1 during its soccer tournament. The Lady Tigers also had their matches cancelled on Saturday.

“The Terrell varsity girls are playing with a lot of heart.  Right now we have been without three to four starters the last two tournaments.  It has built depth and hopefully we can get a few players back before district starts,” Stephens said.
