The Terrell High School varsity volleyball team started its season on Aug. 6 with a 3-0 win over Conrad.

Terrell is 7-15 overall. Terrell’s first district game will be on Sept. 13 at West Mesquite High School.

Ray Kramer returns for a second season as head coach of the Terrell High School varsity volleyball team.

“Our goal is to improve every day,” Kramer said. “To go out and compete at the highest level every game.”

Last season, Terrell finished with a district record of 1-11 and an overall record of 5-22. North Forney were district champions last season with a 11-1 district record and a 29-12 overall record.

“District competition is extremely tough.” Kramer said. “The teams that advance from our district will have a chance to go deep in the playoffs.”

Forney, Poteet and Lancaster were the three other teams that advanced to the post-season last year.

Entering this season, Terrell has an inexperienced varsity team with three returning players from last season.

“We have a lot of growth still left to catch up with our district competition but the kids work hard and I know will give it everything they've got,” Kramer said. “With a lot of new players on varsity it will be a year of ups and downs.  But as long as we work hard and improve some each day it will be a successful season.”

The seniors on the Terrell High School volleyball team consist of Olivia Keto, Grayce Keto, Whitney Well-Barnett, Chloe Turner, Shernecia Jackson, MyChelle Walker and Daphne Thompson.
