1933-2023

Nelda Rosenbaum Daves Currie passed away on March 10, 2023 with her son and daughter by her side. Nelda was born December 6, 1933 in Royse City, Texas to Orbie and Ethel Rosenbaum, both of whom preceded her in death along with her first husband, Boone H. Daves, Jr., her sisters, Mary Woodridge and Katherine Kirby; brothers, Orbie and Orville Rosenbaum and her second husband, Charles Currie.

Nelda graduated from Terrell High School in 1950 having been voted “Most Beautiful” during her Senior year.

In 1953, she married Boone H. Daves, Jr. and together they made their home in Dallas raising their two children, Terri and Edward. During these years, many vacations with family and friends to Mexico, Colorado, Texas road-trips and beaches were enjoyed. Nelda was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She began her career with DISD Skyline High School as an administrative secretary to the Assistant Principal and she retired after 25 years of dedicated service. Later, she married Charles Currie in 1980 and they spent years traveling in their RV and many happy years with their blended families.

She loved cooking, gardening, needlework and RV traveling but what she loved most of all was being around her children and grandchildren. Any time one of them would call and have an adventure or outing planned, Nelda was definitely up to going! She spent many years as a faithful member of the Methodist faith and attended church at Russell Memorial UMC, College Mound UMC and First United Methodist of Terrell where her lovely smile and joyful personality enabled her to have numerous dear and loving friends. Nelda had a heart for others and so many will continue to treasure the memories of good visits and unforgettable stories shared over the years.

She leaves to carry on her legacy of unconditional love to her daughter, Terri Daves-Wells and husband, Jeff, of Rockwall; son, Edward Daves and wife, Janet, of Terrell; stepdaughter Susan Reinke and husband, Carl, of Mesquite; and stepson, Jeff Currie of Garland; grandchildren: Jeffrey Wells Jr, and wife Lyndsay, Kristin Zamarripa and husband, David, Clark Daves and wife, Nadalee, Kent Daves and wife, Michelle, Lindsey Hunt and husband, John, Chris Reinke and wife, Lindsey; 14 great grandchildren as well as several nieces nephews, extended family and many loving friends.
