1929-2023

Our “Miss Patsy” Walker was born Patsy Lee Burgner in Wichita Falls, Texas to parents Lee and Velma Burgner on June 7, 1929, a depression baby. Her dad supported Velma and Patsy, an only child, by running a local café and then starting his own necktie business. In those early years, Patsy’s mom, Velma made his ties to sell by hand at home. In later years this grew into a self-owned traveling salesman business all over the state of Texas, displaying his wares, now from manufacturers, in many shops and drug stores. Patsy liked visiting him and playing in the “tie shop”, a converted garage at their home full of tables and tables of all kinds of neckties. When family members needed a gift for a man back in the day, they would go to their local drug store and find the “tie rack” to purchase one of Uncle Lee’s ties.

The Burgner family moved to Fort Worth in Patsy’s early youth, where she spent most of the rest of her life. Her parents raised her to love Jesus and she was a faithful Christian until the day she met Him face to face, March 27, 2023. Her daughter, “T”, for Terri, was with her in that holy moment, a bless-ed answer to T’s prayer.

Patsy loved to laugh and cut up and was rarely down about anything. She loved animals, especially puppy dogs, her latest being her sweet Daisy. She loved Elvis and the Gaithers. She loved her Daddy, who came to live with Patsy and her husband in his later years, until the time of his death. She absolutely adored her daughter Terri and thought there was nothing she couldn’t do, not true according to T!

Mark and T moved Patsy to Terrell six or seven years ago, in her own Senior apartment here in town. Her neighbor, Pat, became a dear friend for the several years Patsy was able to live there. In 2020, Patsy had a bout with congestive heart failure in the height of the Covid outbreak. After several lonely weeks in hospitals and rehabs, Patsy came to live at home with her daughter and son-in-law where she enjoyed their company, along with three yappy and affectionate little dogs.

Rockwall and Brin Church of Christ became a big part of her life in her Terrell years, she fell in love with the people and they made her feel as welcome as if she’d been there her whole life. This precious congregation even started up a “Miss Patsy” ministry, rotating people who would come pick her up at home and bring her to church every Sunday, since Mark and T were already active in their own church in Dallas. The gratitude for this gift to their Mom can never be measured.

“Miss Patsy” Walker is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mark and Terri Anderson of Terrell, Texas; niece, who is like her second daughter, Karen Anderson and her husband Don, currently of Muscatine, Iowa; their daughter Melissa and her husband Scott Kirby and new baby boy, Carter of Houston, Texas; son and daughter-in-love, Jeff and Bobbie Walker of Edmond, Oklahoma; granddaughter Lindsay and her husband, Tony Shew of Yukon, Oklahoma; granddaughter Brooke and her husband Bart Brewer along with their three girls, Berkley, Blakeley and Bentley Brewer, of Edmond, Oklahoma. Dog Daisy and two grand-dogs, Phoebe and Chloe, of Terrell, Texas.

Well done, “Miss Patsy”, we love you!
