1952-2023

Rev. Norman Wallace, Jr., age 71, passed away peacefully at his home in Houston on Jan. 30, 2023. He is now with his greatest loves: the Lord and his beloved wife, Judy, who preceded him in death. He also joinshisbelovedparents,Norman“JR”andJanieMae (Hanselka)Wallace and a grandson, James Riley (JR) Wallace, Jr. on the streets of Glory.

Norman was born in Brownwood, TX; but his family eventually settled near Terrell and established the Wallace homestead in the Poetry area. He attended Terrell High School and excelled at playing football which became one of his life’s passions, including his undying love for his Dallas Cowboys. His other passion was his family. He was blessed with his first two children in the late 1970s. After meeting the love of his life, Judy, they married in 1981 and were inseparable until her death in 2017. He lovingly accepted his stepson as his own and later added their youngest son in the mid-1980s.

Norman’s legacy was begun shortly thereafter as he was one of the original group of amazing men who worked tirelessly with the Terrell Youth Football League (TYFL). Over the years, he coached hundreds of young boys who later developed into fine football players and members of their communities. Some even went on to play in college and the NFL. Many of them have credited their time with “Coach” Wallace as a cornerstone of their successes.

It was also during the 1980s that Norman rededicated his life to the service of the Lord. He was already a Baptist minister and was eventually ordained. He spent his entire adult life in service to the Lord. He pastored various churches and missions until his retirement in 2020. His most recent church was Sylvester Baptist Church near Abilene.

His surviving family members who are cherishing the memories of his life are his sister, Catherine McFaul of Sweetwater; his son Gary Robison and his partner Jesse Marche of Houston; his son James Wallace and his wife Anjanette of Weleetka, OK; his daughter Carol Davis and her partner Jerry Castillo of Roatan, TX; his son Norman D. Wallace & his wife Sharie of Sulphur Springs; his grandsons Eric, Joseph, Billy, Kolby, Tyler, Marcus, Austin, Malachi, Cason, & Lionel; several nieces & nephews and great-grandchildren.
