The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Board of Governors this week fired a warning shot aimed over the heads of state legislatures, saying it will conduct college championships only in states where transgender student-athletes can participate.

Hundreds of families will receive food help Saturday April 17 in Wills Point when GFA World (formerly Gospel for Asia) distributes food boxes in partnership with the USDA Farmers to Families program. Volunteers will hand out hundreds of boxes of quality food items and produce at 1116 St. Thomas Way in Wills Point from 10 a.m. – noon or until supplies run out.

Brenda Sue Perry went to be with Jesus on April 13, 2021 in Athens, Texas, at the age of 62, after a long battle with Lymphoma/cancer. Brenda was born on December 21,1958 in Cedar Falls, Iowa to Carl and LaVonne Caughron. The family moved to Terrell, Texas in 1971, where Brenda would graduate as a member of the Terrell High School class of 1977.
Bois d’Arc Lake, the first major reservoir in Texas in nearly 30 years, is now filling. The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) began impounding, or capturing, water on the 16,641- acre lake this week.

Greg Abbott issued an executive order last week banning state agencies, cities or counties from creating a “vaccine passport” requirement.?In addition, organizations that receive public funds are prohibited from requiring consumers to prove they have received the COVID-19 vaccine. That includes businesses that receive money from the state in return for providing goods and services.?However, nursing homes and other long-term care facilities can still require that their residents are vaccinated under his order.?“Every day, Texans are returning to normal life as more people get the safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine. But, as I've said all along, these vaccines are always voluntary and never forced,” Abbott said.
Jim Weems, of Terrell, passed away April 10, 2021 into the presence of his Lord and Savior. Jim was born July 21, 1944 in Lufkin to Jim and Gladys (Jones) Weems, both of whom greeted him in Heaven along with his brother Roy Weems and grandson Levi Hamby.
Aggies from the Kaufman County area will gather on Wednesday, April 21 for Aggie Muster, an occasion for Aggies to enjoy fellowship and to honor Aggies who have died in the past year. This year’s muster will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Kaufman Civic Center located at 607 E. Fair St.
