Martha Joan Price, better known as Joan to her friends and family, passed away December 30th, 2021, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. Born to Mother Ida Davis (Crawford), & Roy Davis on March 3, 1934, Joan was the second child out of six children.

John Clark Keller was born January 15, 1940, in Atlanta, the older son of John G. Keller Jr., and Catherine Louise (McClung) Keller. He attended Terrell public schools, where he excelled in athletics. In 1957–58, his senior year as a Terrell Tiger, he played end, on offense and defense, on a team that won the 2A state high school football championship. He was the leading scorer on the basketball team, which went several rounds in the playoffs. He won state championships in the discus and as a member of the mile relay team. He attended Texas A&M on a basketball scholarship, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s in education.

Kaufman County voters went to the ballot box in 2019 determined to help the county make needed infrastructure repairs. That vote of confidence began to pay dividends in earnest throughout the latter half of 2021 with numerous projects funded by those efforts coming to completion.

Kaufman County cities had plenty to celebrate in 2021 with the Texas State Comptroller’s Office announcing that virtually every local city, with the exception of Rosser, had seen sales tax revenue growth when comparing collections totals from 2021 against those posted the previous year.

Members of the Class of 2021 on June 4 walked from the stage into a new life – a life no longer bound by the confines of Terrell High School or the expectations of its educators. Students from the Class of 2021 will no longer walk the school’s hallways filled with friends and classmates or sit in its classrooms offering enrichment and learning.

Mother Nature delivered a devastating one-two punch at the start of 2021, following up a round of relatively light snow during the opening weeks of January with record-breaking totals in February. January’s round proved to be idyllic for most county residents, blanketing the area with powdery snow that led briefly to the closure of schools and many area businesses.

Pikett named to President’s List

Sophia Pikett was among 660 Bob Jones University students named to the Fall 2021 President’s List. The President’s List recognizes students who earn a 3.75 or higher grade point average for the semester.

Holiday Home Decorating Contest

The City of Post Oak Bend held its 2nd annual Holiday Home Decorating Contest. The event grew this year with 10 contestant entries and the city is already planning the event to be larger next year. The winners were awarded a metal Holiday Home yard sign purchased from Superior Custom Signs in Terrell and a $100 electricity credit from TVEC.
