County to host cleanup event

Kaufman County officials announced that they would be holding a cleanup event at the Terrell Convenience Station (located at 287 FM 429) from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

While that increase has lent itself to new residential and commercial development, rising sales tax revenues and increased property tax revenues, it has also served to overshadow issues related to homelessness locally.

Council sets sights on city improvements

The Terrell City Council put its focus on a series of local infrastructure efforts on Tuesday night, discussing and reviewing proposed professional services agreements for four separate projects as introduced by Terrell City Engineer Steve Rogers.

For more than five years, a group of volunteers affectionately referred to as the “Bag Ladies” have met monthly, using their collective talents and know-how to turn what otherwise might be considered garbage into hundreds of sleeping mats for homeless people across the area.

Voters weigh in during Republican, Democratic Primaries

Kaufman County voters took to the polls March 1, making their voices heard during Republican and Democratic Primary voting. Voters largely put their support behind incumbent candidates up and down the ballot with Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Comptroller Glenn Hegar and Commissioner of Agriculture Sid Miller easily holding off challengers at the state-level and Kaufman County District Attorney Erleigh Norville Wiley and County Commissioner Precinct 2 Skeet Phillips doing the same at the local level.

Kaufman County Day, March 27 & 28

Each year the area Chambers, school districts, economic development corporations and cities host Kaufman County Day (KCD) in Austin, Texas, on March 28, 2022. Registration for this event can be found on the Kaufman Chamber of Commerce website, www.kaufmanchamber.com.

Terrell Taco Festival scheduled for May 7

The City of Terrell and the Terrell Chamber of Commerce/CVB are sponsoring the Terrell Taco Festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 7, 2022. The event will be held on Nash and Adelaide Streets near Terrell City Hall.
