The Kaufman County Cowboys (KCC) 7U, 8U, and 10U football teams recently made history in Corpus Christi by claiming National Championship titles at the Pinnacle Nationals Championship games. With a dominating performance, each of the three teams secured a spot at the top, adding another incredible achievement to KCC’s legacy.

If you’re not a duck hunter, you might wonder what force causes your water-fowling friends to leave the comforts of a warm home to spend time in a damp, often cold duck blind. Often during the evening hours, my family and friends find me in a semi-conscious state induced from lack of sleep.

TEXAS PRESS ASSOCIATION Drivers will no longer be required to get annual safety inspections beginning Jan. 1, the Texas Standard reported, however, drivers in the state’s 17 most populous counties will still be required to get an emissions test in order to register their vehicles.

Local Dementia Care Workshop offers transformative skills for caregivers

A four-part workshop is being offered in Terrell, aimed at enhancing dementia care through hands-on training and proven techniques. Led by certified dementia care professional Isabel Maria, the workshop is designed to equip caregivers with the skills needed to create a positive, supportive environment for those living with dementia, while also promoting self-care for the caregivers themselves.

Texas eliminates vehicle safety inspections

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced earlier in 2024 upcoming changes to the state’s Vehicle Safety Inspection Program that will eliminate most vehicle safety inspections. House Bill 3297, which was passed by the 88th Legislature and signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott in 2023, abolishes the Vehicle Safety Inspection Program for non-commercial vehicles.

Nucor makes Christmas donations around town

Community involvement is important to Nucor by their employees donating money to buy supplies for food and presents. It allows them to make a positive impact, improves mental and emotional wellbeing of the elderly, promotes civic engagement, shows love, compassion and empathy for others, and in hopes it builds a stronger community. Nucor donated 45 gift bags to the residents at the Country View Rehab Center with Administrator Deon Tankersley. The bags consist of candy, socks, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, combs, lip balm, activity books etc. They also donated 68 gift boxes to the Terrell Health Care Center and Christmas dinners to the Terrell Share Center.
