May 26, Kaufman County Commissioners’ Court proclaimed June as Elder Abuse Awareness Month. “Y’all have been so gracious every year to proclaim June as Elder Abuse Awareness Month in Kaufman County, and we appreciate it,” Waxahachie- based Department of Family Protective Services Community Engagement Specialist Sue Stalder said.

Members of Terrell ISD, City Council, staff, community, family and friends came out to celebrate the retirement of outgoing Terrell ISD School Board President Dena Risinger at the Jamie Foxx Performing Arts Center on Thursday, May 28. After 24 years of dedication and service to Terrell ISD, Ms. Risinger is embarking on a new chapter.

Poetry Community Christian School (PCCS) is proud to announce a new partnership with Nelson University that will provide PCCS high school students the opportunity to earn an Associate’s Degree in General Studies while completing their secondary education at PCCS high school.

Terrell Tigers Head Football Coach Marvin Sedberry, Jr. was named the 2025-26 Regional Coach of the Year for Region 3, 5A by the Texas High School Coaches Association. The Tigers went 12-1 during the 2025 season and 7-0 in district play to finish as District champions. Terrell went on to defeat both Seagoville and Huntsville to finish as Bi-district and Area champions before falling to the eventual State champion South Oak Cliff Bears.

The Terrell Lady Tigers announced their All-District honors on May 15. Rachel Sommers was named First Team All-District for the Lady Tigers.

editor@terrelltribune.com The Dallas Police Officer that was injured in a coma after a plane crash in Forney, died on Friday, May 29, Dallas Police Association said. “It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dallas Police Sergeant Joshua Boykin, who succumbed to the injuries he sustained in a small plane crash near Forney on May 16,” Dallas Police Association said on social media.

Terrell ISD Class of 2026 seniors had their procession and sunset drive on Wednesday, May 27. The procession began at Ben Gill Park and made its way to the Jamie Foxx Performing Arts Center. See more photos on page 8A.
