Brenda Sue Perry went to be with Jesus on April 13, 2021 in Athens, Texas, at the age of 62, after a long battle with Lymphoma/cancer. Brenda was born on December 21,1958 in Cedar Falls, Iowa to Carl and LaVonne Caughron. The family moved to Terrell, Texas in 1971, where Brenda would graduate as a member of the Terrell High School class of 1977. Brenda trusted Jesus to be her savior while attending Emmanuel Baptist Church, and also met the love of her life Randy Perry. Brenda and Randy were married on August 3rd, 1979, and welcomed a son in 1987 named Samuel. Throughout their marriage, Brenda and Randy lived in Arlington, Texas; Terrell, Texas; and Malakoff, Texas. They were members of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Hillcrest Park Baptist Church, First Baptist Church in Terrell and Malakoff, Faith Community Baptist Church, and Rock Hill Baptist Church in Brownsboro, Texas. She served on committees and in many capacities throughout their memberships. Brenda worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield and then the University of Texas at Arlington while Randy finished college before finding her calling, which was serving Baptist pastors from all over Texas. She ministered to pastors for over 20 years, helping Baptist churches lead people to trust and follow Jesus as their Lord and Savior. After moving to Malakoff, Brenda helped to teach students in Malakoff ISD and Mabank ISD. Throughout her life, Brenda lived out the message contained in 1 Peter 4:10, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace”. She supported Randy, unwaveringly, as a coach’s wife and school administrator’s wife. Brenda’s family was the most important thing to her. Her favorite role was, without a doubt, as “Granny” to her two grandchildren, Casey and Luke Perry. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Carl and Lavonne Caughron, and Mother in law, Lettie B. Perry. She is survived by her husband, Randy of Malakoff, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Dr. Courtney Perry of Graham, Texas; and grandchildren, Casey and Luke Perry of Graham, Texas. She is survived by father-in-law, Dr. Casey Perry of Malakoff, Texas; siblings and in-laws, Dave and Connie Caughron of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Carla and Alan Sitzes of Wills Point, Texas, and Bruce and Kim Caughron of Gladewater, Texas. Brenda loved, and is loved by her in-laws, cousins, friends, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 4:00 pm Saturday April 17, 2021 at the First Baptist Church, 403 N. Catherine St. in Terrell with interment to follow at College Mound Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm to service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, and in honor of the Perry's commitment to every child's education, her family asks that memorials be made to the Malakoff Education Foundation, P.O. Box 23 Malakoff, Tx 75148. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.maxslaytonfunerals.com.
