On July 10, 2022, David Lee Kennedy Sr. died peacefully in his sleep in Cedar Hill.

David Lee Kennedy Sr. was born on Dec. 15, 1948 to the parentage of Sam Dezevella Kennedy and Lucille Washington Kennedy in Terrell, Texas. David was the third child out of seven children to that union. David accepted the Lord Christ as his savior at an early age at Holy Temple Church of Christ in Terrell under the late, Bishop Edward Lee.

David graduated from Burnett High School in Terrell. He began his career by enlisting in the United States Army in 1971. Sergeant First Class David Lee Kennedy Sr. served his country for 20 years until his retirement in 1991.

As he continued his spiritual growth, the Lord saw fitting that David would begin a new journey David is preceded in death by his parents Dezevella and Lucille Kennedy, his brothers Eddie and Larry Kennedy and sister Pearlie Mae Collins and his son David Lee Kennedy Jr.

He leaves to cherish him forever, his children, daughters, Davida L. Kennedy, DeAnna R. (Kennedy) Hubbard, Jane (Kennedy) Zerabruk; sons, Emanuel C. Kennedy, Lafayette Kennedy, Quincy L. Kennedy; sisters, Kathy (Rev. Tommy) Tucker, Louise Parker; brother, Rodney Dezevella (Vella) Kennedy; son-In-laws, Nathan Zerabruk and Vincent Hubbard; brother-in-laws, James E. White (Doomzie), Jesse James, Rev. Tommy Tucker and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

No funeral is planned. A memorial service at VA National Cemetery in Dallas is being planned. Family and friends will be notified when details are available.
