Maxine Rae (Smoots) Olsen, age 78, of Terrell, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Maxine was born on December 5, 1942, in Aitkin, Minnesota, to John Raymond and Dorothy Mae Smoots. She graduated in 1960 from Aitkin High School. She worked for AT&T for many years before retiring.

She enjoyed traveling, whether by car or boat, or by venturing to other worlds through books, as she was an avid reader throughout her life. Maxine’s love of books led her to encourage others to read by volunteering at Riter C. Hulsey Public Library in Terrell, where she led the Wings Adult Literacy Program and also served on the Friends of the Library Board.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Jezierski and husband, Michael Young; step-children, Duane Olsen and partner Linda Clark, Tammie Mahnke and husband Earl, Amy McNutt and husband Jam Johnson, and Robert McNutt Jr.; brother Edward Smoots; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter, along with a host of other beloved nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Charles McNutt Sr., her first husband, Laurence Phillip Olsen, and two brothers, Harold Smoots and Delbert Smoots.

Maxine will be interred in a private ceremony at Highland Memorial Gardens in Terrell, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Home – Terrell.
