Dr. Jerome McAllister
Dr. Jerome McAllister passed away on Oct. 6, 2021. He was born on April 21, 1932 and was a wonderful father and a loving husband to his wife Martha for over 63 years.
Jerry, as he was known to his friends and family, is survived by his wife Martha Samuels McAllister, his daughter Kathleen and her husband Matthew Adams, and second daughter Teresa Alden and her husband Curtis Alden. He is also survived by his sister Mary Ellen Wallis and his brother James McAllister and his wife Dorothy McAllister.
Jerry was an amazing man, as he served God, family and country. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War and graduated with honors from the University of Houston with his Doctorate of Optometry. He was a member and president of the Rotary Club in La Marque, Texas, and he was chairman of the board at the College of the Mainland. Later in life, Jerry was ordained as a Deacon in the Catholic Church and served for over 25 years.
Jerry and Martha loved to travel and circumnavigated the globe together. They traveled with their children as often as possible and did multiple medical missionary trips abroad. Everywhere they went, they would pick up a nativity set and at Christmas, those nativities brought joy to everyone. In addition to travel, Jerry and Martha delighted in entertaining and had many lovely parties with family and friends. Jerry also loved photography and captured many of the best moments life had to offer.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3905 Hickox Rd, Rowlett, 75089 with the memo line indicating the Building Fund. Condolences and memories may be shared with his family at www.maxslaytonfunerals.com.
