Claudette Adams
1946-2026
Claudette (Word) Adams passed away on Wednesday evening, May 27, 2026 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.
She was surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Claudette is the eldest daughter of Jim and Polly Word of Terrell. She was born on Christmas Day 1946.
She attended Terrell High School where she played clarinet in the Fighting Tiger Band and graduated with honors in 1965. She then went to Henderson County Community College where she was a member of the Cardinal Band. Eventually earning her degree from East Texas State University in 1969. Claudette worked in Payroll and Accounting at EDS for many years after she graduated.
Claudette was married to Ronnie Adams (until she wasn’t) and raised their three children: Justin, Holly and Aaron in Terrell as well. Claudette was very serious about her work, but she still found time to do a little sewing and gardening. She also loved animals and had real trouble walking away from a stray dog or cat.
In her later years, she developed a fondness for Bingo, and refused to eat a breakfast without hot sauce or salsa. Her enduring love for Peeps and Peep products never waned despite her advancing in age. As her birthday passed, she started to laugh at all my jokes - even the ones with cuss words.
She was loved and will be missed by her younger sister Cindy and her children Justin, Holly and Aaron and friends and family who knew her.
Funeral services were held at June 4, 2026 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel.
