Tiger runners set for a big season

The Terrell Tigers boys’ and girls’ cross country teams are set for a big 2025 season with a big roster as the season gets underway. After amassing over 50 runners last season between both teams, the Tigers have added double digits to bring the roster to an even 80 runners.

North Texas Longhorns finish out summer season

The North Texas Longhorns finished the 2025 Summer Track Season in dramatic fashion winning four gold medals, three silver medals and six bronze medals. The Longhorns also had several athletes to make the State Finals.

Summer is not done yet, but I always consider the opening of dove season as the beginning stages of fall. Oh, the temperature is usually well into the 90s in early September, but there is often an early cool front or rain from a tropical depression to give us a foretaste of what’s to come in October.

Longhorns Summer Track Club competes at Regionals

The North Texas Longhorns Summer Track Club participated in the TAAF Region 7 Regional Meet July 10-11 and will be taking 33 young athletes to the TAAF State Games of Texas in College Station at Texas A&M University July 31 through Aug. 3.

Downrigging: Deadly technique for big fish

My first experience with using downriggers for stripers and hybrid stripers occurred 30 years ago. I was fishing with a very experienced guide that specialized in using downriggers, a very effective method of trolling lures at a specific depth using a heavy metal ball to maintain the proper depth.
