Kaufman County is the fastest growing county in the country, having grown more than 18% in the last five years, according to census figures. And the growth is continuing at a record pace.
Continued growth for Terrell, TISD bond push highlight year With another year rapidly winding down and 2023 looming just around the corner, we here at the Terrell Tribune decided to look back at some of the biggest and most talked about local and area stories featured in our pages over the past 12 months. Stories generating the most ink in 2022 included a continued population and industry boom in Kaufman County, multiple bond efforts by the Terrell ISD, a busy summer fire season for local departments and standout performances by local students on the biggest stages.
While the Tiger varsity football program generated plenty of headlines after not only making the jump to the 5A classification and reaching the Regional Quarterfinal round of the playoffs during the 2022 season, younger student- athletes in Terrell also excelled on the gridiron and in the classroom Among those standouts was Aubree Runnels, a 10-year-old that not only suited up as part of the local youth foot- ball program, but also showed out to earn team MVP honors after starring on both the offensive and defensive lines.
A farewell reception recognizing outgoing Kaufman County Judge Hal Richards and outgoing Precinct 4 Commissioner Ken Cates has been scheduled for Dec. 28 from 2-4 p.m. at the Kaufman County Justice Center located at 1902 US Highway 175 in Kaufman.
Local first responders were reportedly dispatched to the Walmart Distribution Center, located at 591 Apache Trail shortly, after 11 p.m. Dec. 13 in regards to an employee that had been involved in an accident.

The Terrell Tigers made the leap to the 5A classification during the 2022 season, squaring off against a pool of talented opponents in the newly formed District 7-5A that also includes Melissa, Lovejoy, Crandall, Denison, Poteet, Greenville and Princeton.
The Forney Area Networking group, FANG, is holding a charity event on January 21 at Community Life located at 204 FM 1641 in Forney. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the event officially beginning at 6 p.m.
