1946-2023

Pastor Ronald Dean Trosper passed peacefully from this life to his Heavenly reward on Feb. 8, 2023 with family at his side. Ron was born Dec. 10, 1946 in Dalhart, to Thomas and Kathleen (Phillips) Trosper, both of whom joyfully met him in Heaven along with his brother, Jim Trosper, step-father and uncle, Oscar Trosper and grandson, Jeremiah Trosper.

After graduating high school, Ron enlisted, and proudly served, with the US Navy where he spent 24 years of dedicated service achieving the rank of LNC (Chief Legalman). His enlistment had Ron stationed all over the world where his many interactions molded him to be a man of integrity, honor and patience. On Aug. 22, 1968 he married the love of his life, Vicki Lynn Hood, and together, they raised a family filled with love, faith and devotion. Ron was recognized as the first person in the Legalman Rank and the first Sailor of the Year for New England. After retiring from the Navy in 1992, Ron became a pastor serving at Red Oak Baptist Church and then Crossover Baptist Church in Terrell. His ability to always make a person feel as if he had all the time in the world for them was a hallmark of Ron’s personality. He had a quiet and peaceful quality, tempered with his amazing sense of humor, that put everyone who met Ron instantly at ease. His mentorship as an experienced pastor was a true blessing to other ministers who needed an ear to listen and a shoulder to lean on. A loving husband, devoted father, cherished grandfather, great grandfather, beloved friend and adored pastor, Ron will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.

He leaves his legacy of unconditional love to be carried on by his wife, Vicki L. Trosper, of Terrell; children: Scott Trosper and wife, Michelle, of Terrell, Tronda Falck and husband, Chad, of Puyallup, WA, and Kari Downs and husband, Mike, of Terrell; grandchildren: Bethany Trosper Vasquez and husband, Angel, Melayna Sepulveda-Falck and husband, Francisco, Kellie Freeman and husband, Cody, Jaden Townsend-Falck, and Caleb Downs; great grandchildren: Whiatte Freeman, Sawyer Freeman, Zoey Trosper, Angel Vasquez, Tommy Trosper, Estella Vasquez, Sammy Sepulveda-Falck; adopted grandchildren: Katrina and Rene Ekman, Kaitlin Brooks and Jacob Lacey; adopted great grandchildren: Ski Brooks, Cora Brooks, Stormie Martin, Atticus Martin; step-siblings and cousins: Madeline McCleary, Gary Lee Trosper and Paul David Trosper as well as many other extended family, church families and a host of friends, each of whom will miss Ron dearly.
