Ronald D. Milliken of Houston, passed away on Saturday, April 8th, 2023, at the age of 75. He was born on April 25, 1947, in Terrell where he grew up with dear friends and neighbors, to include Jim Burr, Jim McGinty, Barry and others. He was proud of playing football for the Terrell Tigers and always being voted the best dressed boy in his class.

He graduated from Sam Houston State University and worked in a variety of jobs, ranging from the Marriott, where he learned directly from JW Marriott about customer service, to a mud engineer on an oil rig in Africa to medical sales of respiratory equipment, before he found his true calling in the electrical and switchgear industry. He worked for many electrical manufacturers and distributors throughout his career to include Federal Pacific, Siemens, Graybar, Wholesale Electric and CED where he was working to cover gulf coast projects until his recent illness. His colleagues throughout the industry called him the best switchgear specialist.

He was actively involved in church throughout the last 25 years, including being a financial board member, head usher, men’s ministry director and supporter of local causes and missions. He was also passionate about supporting the missionaries he met in Brazil, in addition to volunteering for various organizations such as the Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and Samaritan’s Purse.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, John Denver Milliken and Evelyn High Milliken, as well as by his beloved Uncle Harry.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Young Milliken and children Alexandra Laycie Sykes, who resides in Murfreesboro TN with her spouse, Jacob Hall and their son Calvin Hall and Jacob Denver Milliken, who is a junior at Texas A&M in aerospace engineering.

The family would like to thank MD Anderson physicians, nurses and interprofessional team members for the care and compassion they showed to Ron during his last several weeks of hospitalization. We would also like to thank the friends who helped Lisa by giving many days of their time, to include Bill Hines, Jerry McDonald, Jim and Karen Burr, and others who came to visit him.
