Ruby Ruth Davis Hare was born on February 28, 1940 to Ruth May Terry and Charles Leaman Davis in Kaufman, and passed away peacefully with her family by her side in hospice care July 31, 2023 in Richardson.

Ruby grew up in the Post Oak Bend Community where she and her sister and all of the neighborhood children enjoyed the freedom and fun of roaming the country lanes, and learning the simple pleasures and responsibilities of farm life. She joined the Post Oak Bend Baptist Church as a child. Next door Ruby attended the small Post Oak Bend country school through the elementary years and then attended and graduated from Kaufman High School. She was an active Cheerleader and member of the K’dettes drill team.

Ruby was married once to Jerry Hare and later followed him to Fort Polk, Louisiana when the national guard was called up during the Cuban Missile Crisis of October 1962, a direct and dangerous confrontation of the cold war where the U.S. and Soviet Union came closest to a nuclear war. To this marriage a son, Scott Hare was born. The family lived in Commerce, Texas during their college years, followed by working in Greenville, Texas, and then work took them to Lake City, Florida. They finally settled in Rockwall, Texas where Scott graduated high school. Ruby worked and helped to open Colonial Savings and Loan in Greenville, Texas.

She later worked for Kraft Foods in Garland, Texas and later retired from the mortgage industry. Upon retirement she moved to Ennis, Texas to be near her older sister, Mary Dee Davis Pennington where Ruby attended First Baptist Church and met many dear and loving friends. This group traveled for many years over Texas, New Mexico and Colorado having a great time in retirement and creating wonderful memories. Ruby moved back to Mesquite, Texas and then finally to full retirement in Rowlett in assisted living.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Charles Ray Davis and Eugene Davis, and sister Mary Dee Davis Pennington. She is survived by her son Scott Hare and wife Mina of Wylie, Texas, granddaughters Brandi Hare Reed and Husband Dwight David Reed, Kristen Hare Escoto and Husband Daniel Escoto, great granddaughter Baylee Daniela Escoto, all of Wylie, Texas, a sister Virginia Davis Lambeth of Kaufman, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Ruby was held at ReChurch, 113 North Jackson, Kaufman, Texas on Thursday, August 3 at 1:00 pm. A reception for family and friends followed at the church.
