1947-2024

Rhonda Diane Streetman (née Burch) was born on August 23, 1947 in Terrell, Texas to Eugene Ralph Burch and Nellie Marie Burch (née Potter).

Rhonda attended Mesquite High School followed by cosmetology school and spent many years in the 1960s and 70s as a hairdresser. Along the way she met the love of her life, Carey Eugene Streetman of Royse City, and they married in 1980. Rhonda fulfilled her life-long dream of becoming a mother when she and Carey adopted their daughter, Whitney, who was born in 1986. Prior to adopting Whitney, Rhonda took on the role of surrogate mother and provided extra love to many nieces and family friends. She was never called Aunt Rhonda; rather, she became affectionately known as RaRa. Rhonda, Carey, and Whitney lived in Munson, before ultimately settling in Terrell, in 1990.

Rhonda owned and helped manage several businesses throughout her life, including Barb Wire & Roses in Terrell, in the mid 2000s. She was a gifted florist, spending many years putting together floral arrangements for her businesses, family, and friends. Rhonda spent her latter years looking after her grandchildren, Madeline and Luke, and attending all of their school and extracurricular activities.

Rhonda loved to talk and could carry on a conversation with anyone. She loved to get dressed up and was known for her large make-up caboodle and curling iron. She had a fierce loyalty to Dr. Pepper and Marlboro Red 100 cigarettes. She never passed up the chance to visit the State Fair of Texas and eat Fletcher’s Corny Dogs and saltwater taffy. Rhonda was a hard worker and gave 100% to every job she took on. She loved her family with everything she had. Rhonda had a difficult life in many respects and managed several chronic health problems. Still, she maintained resilience and persistence. After needing an amputation, Rhonda learned to walk unassisted on her prosthetic leg in 2019 at 72 years old. Inspired by her grandkids, she affectionately called it her “robot leg”.

Rhonda died February 27, 2024 in Terrell. She is survived by her husband Carey Streetman of Terrell, TX; daughter Whitney Saunders and husband Toby of Crandall, TX; grandchildren Madeline and Luke Saunders; special niece Shelli Porras of Mitchell, SD; special niece Kelli Aguirre of Yankton, SD; special grandnephews Bill Tagg Jr., Zachary Tagg, Antonio Aguirre Jr., and Austin Aguirre; special grandnieces Kelsey Thomas and Ashli Aguirre; and many other nieces, nephews, special family members, and friends.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Ralph Burch; mother, Nellie Marie Burch (née Potter); big brother Gary Lynn Burch; little sister Wanda Darlene Miller; and special grandnephew Nicholas Eugene Tagg.

A memorial service will be held at Faith Fellowship Church of the Nazarene in Terrell, Saturday April 13, at 1 p.m.
