City seeks participants in housing voucher program

TVCC board appoints Eason to fill vacancy

The board of Trinity Valley Community College this week appointed Terry Eason, Ed.D., to fill the District 9 seat vacated by the death of Homer Norville in December Eason was administered the oath of office by Henderson County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Judge Randy Daniel. “I am excited to serve as a member of the board of trustees of Trinity Valley Community College to help the college continue executing its strategic plan, accelerate growth and deliver value to the students we serve,” said Eason.

A year ago, the economy had begun to stabilize after two months of cataclysmic decline due to COVID-19 and the massive response. Almost overnight, millions of jobs disappeared, and an economy in the midst of a record-shattering expansion suddenly went into free fall.

COVID-19 diminishes locally

COVID-19 infection rates continue trending downward in Kaufman County as normalcy returns to everyday life. Still, the county lags significantly behind the state and nation in its vaccination rate, according to numbers shared Tuesday night by Dustin Connor, Terrell’s coordinator for emergency management.

Restored ‘Ole 42’ donated to BFTS Museum

Ole 42 is coming home. A Boeing Stearman PT-27 biplane, which was flown by Royal Air Force cadets earning their wings during 1942 and 1943, is returning to Terrell at the No 1 British Flying Training School Museum.

Comforting kids one stuffed animal at a time

Beginning in late July or early August, folks in Terrell may begin seeing donation boxes for stuffed animals. The furry little toys placed in those receptacles may someday end up in the arms of a severely stressed or traumatized child through a program known as Alana’s Gift.

City eyes second business aid package

Concerned that some Terrell businesses are still wobbly from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, City Manger Mike Sims is urging the City Council to back another assistance package in partnership with the Terrell Chamber of Commerce.
