After 42 years of distinguished service in law enforcement, Chief Gary Mork is retiring from the Terrell ISD Police Department. Chief Mork spent 30 years in the Garland Police Department before joining Terrell ISD as Chief 13 years ago.

DPS urges drivers to be aware as school year begins

With the school year beginning in person for many districts across the state, the Texas Department of Public Safety is reminding the public of steps they can take to keep students and staff members safe. This includes slowing down in school zones, staying off cell phones and being aware at all times while around school buses.

Students granted back-to-school shopping spree

Academy Sports + Outdoors partnered with Terrell ISD to give 15 kids $150 shopping sprees to gear up for back-to-school. On Tuesday, August 10, the students were given the opportunity to shop Academy’s wide assortment of footwear, apparel, backpacks and more, to help them get what they need for the school year.

The number of Texans hospitalized with lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases is increasing faster than at any other point since the pandemic began in early 2020, due to the highly contagious delta variant. As of Sunday, the Texas Department of State Health Services reported 8,892 people were in Texas hospitals.

Tigers closing in on season opener

Laura F. Gomez is the Daughter of Pedro and Maria Lourdes Gomez of Terrell, TX and Alex Cazares Son of Juan Manuel and Elida Cazares of Dallas, TX., were married on July 31, 2021. Ceremony was held at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Terrell, TX., with Rev. James Orozco officiating at the ceremony; Bride was given away by her parents. The reception was held at the Grand Hacienda Ballroom in Dallas, TX. Following their honeymoon, the couple plan to make their home in Greenville, TX.

Fall armyworms on the march across Texas

TEXAS–Cooler temperatures andwidespread rain events across Texas have forage and crop producers scrambling to fi ght armyworms, according to a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service expert. Armyworm caterpillars are the larval form of a moth that migrates by the millions northward in the spring and summer to lay their eggs. Infestations of the caterpillars can be extremely destructive to home gardens and forage and row crops from Bermuda grass to corn and rice.
