Education in America is at risk. Quality teachers are at the forefront of a quality educational system and teachers are leaving the profession by the boatload. Teachers’ pay, COVID 19 protocols and lack of community support are driving the stress levels up higher than many teachers can take.

Ayres begins work as fire marshal

The Kaufman County Commissioners’ Court recently appointed Paul F. Ayres as Fire Marshal after a month’s-long search. Ayres is an experienced public safety professional who has been involved in over 360 fire/explosion investigations, including 28 fatal incidents (involving 42 separate fatalities).

Feb. 14: The Kaufman County Homeless Coalition will be hosting a lunch, learn and share event from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the B&PW Building located at 200 Elm Drive in Terrell. The meeting is open to everyone, and will include a discussion on homelessness and housing insecurity in the community. Lunch will be provided by Eddie Deen and Hickory Roots BBQ. DPS reminds CDL applicants about Entry Level Driver Training

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is reminding applicants for a commercial driver license (CDL) or certain endorsements that the Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements began Feb. 7, 2022. Recent inclement weather has closed some driver license offices; however, the federal requirement has not been delayed as a result of these closures.

Celtic Angels to perform

Celebrate the Irish culture through music, song and dance in a special concert by Celtic Angels at the Terrell ISD Jamie Foxx Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 21. This is the fifth performance in the 2021- ‘22 E! Terrell Entertainment Series of community concerts.
